I'm not going to shut down this blog until the filing deadline for the September school board election has passed, but in the meantime I am going to start the transition to a school board watchdog blog. Two things have to happen: I need to come up with a catchy name and I need to figure out how to send visitors to this blog to the new blog automatically. On several occasions I have criticized board action or inaction on this site, so the shift should not be too difficult, but perhaps less entertaining.
For starters, there is reason to be critical of the school board's plan to merely fix a little in every school rather than fix everything in most. And its proposed dress code plan bears watching; adopting a middle class conceit on dress will not work in every school. Khakis and polos are not for everybody.
I would also like the new site to have content provided by others, unedited by me. The commentary can be critical or laudatory, but as long as it is thoughtful and not a screed I will print it. And you have to put your real name on it.
